A higher percentage means that more of what you're eating is coming from protein - not carbs or fat. Calories from Protein can be easily calculated with the following steps:

1) Locate the total grams of protein in a product
2) Multiply that number by 4 (there are 4 calories in every gram of protein)
3) Divide that number by the total number of calories
4) All done!

Using any of our Protein Pastries as an example:

1) 20g Protein x 4 Calories = 80 Calories from Protein
2) 80 Calories from Protein / 180 Total Calories = 44% Calories from Protein

Are the protein pastries halal?

How do you calculate the calories in each pastry? 8g of fat is 72 calories (9 cal/g), 20g of protein is 80 cal, (4 cal/g) and then 12g of carbs without the erythritol is 48 cal (4 cal/g). 72+80+48=200. Am I missing something? Also, the back of my brown sugar cinnamon pack says 9g of Erythritol. Did the recipe change?
Thank you for your inquiry. Yes we have a slight change in our product formulation for some of our products. We are rolling out new packaging for the new formulation of our products. To answer your question about calorie count. The FDA has specific rules on how calculation is done, which is particularly important in our case because the FDA includes different calorie contents for the various classifications of carbohydrates other that just 4 calories per gram. Not all carbohydrates are calculated at 4 calories per gram. When this is taken into account, the calorie content of many products will end up much lower than simple "4,4,9" math would lead a person to believe. Here is a summary of a few FDA regulations regarding calorie calculation that pertain to our product lines: Here as excerpt of the FDA's rules regarding calories: ... Using the general factors of 4, 4, and 9 calories per gram for protein, total carbohydrate (less the amount of non-digestible carbohydrates and sugar alcohols), and total fat, respectively, ... The FDA has a determined a general factor for calories coming from erythritol, which is 0 calories per gram The FDA has a determined a general factor for calories coming from Soluble non digestible fibers, which is 2 calories per gram The FDA has a determined a general factor for calories coming from allulose, which is 0.4 calories per gram. can you heat these up another way other than a microwave if you dont have or use a microwave? Can you put them in a toaster oven to heat up?
Hi Kim, thanks for reaching out to us. The heating process depends on the kind of toaster that you are using. We do not recommend using the Pop Up toasters as our pastries have frosting that will definitely melt and stick to your toaster. We use the toaster ovens or microwave ovens and anything that you can place your pastries in an upright position. The heating time also depends on your equipment, we normally heat up our pastries in a very low setting and for only a few seconds.
